Try to be brave (Round 2)

I still need to go to bed but this one worked out a little better then the first "Try to be brave". I still would like to explore more on this little drawing project.

"Where the Wild Things Are" the Movie

This is one of those books as a child that made me wanted to be an illustrator. So now that the movie is coming out in October, I'm like a kid again waiting for Christmas. Pretty cool Trailer. The Band is Arcade Fire with their song "Wake Up".

Illustrations by Pop Surrealist artist Jason Freeny take top honors

I couldn't help but to post this artist. I love Legos with a passion. This really made my day. Check out Freeny's other cool illustrations. Illustrations by Pop Surrealist artist Jason Freeny take top honors

Travel Pack Logo Design So far

Here is a logo design I started , but need some ideas on getting the right type face to go with the tribal minivan. Any thoughts? I like the logo but need a better typeface. The logo is for a travel agency / travel guide that helps young families with traveling plans. Targeted towards parents that want to feel adventurous but have children. It caters to their needs and provides that same free-spirit traveling with accommodations for children.

Teach This Semester

Some sketches of my teachers this semester at the University of Utah.

GOUACHE WITH MORALEZ
This drawing didn't come out the best, so I am going to retry and see if I can come push more of a cartoon style. The mouth went all weird on me too.

SO SOGARD
This one was much better but I may redo just to create a little more character.

THE HISTORY OF RANDELL
I love this drawing the best and feel that I created a better stylized cartoonish feeling and not a retrace of the teachers face. I love this guy, he is the Graphic Design History Teacher and has a bit of history himself in the field.

Old School New School?

I was looking for a file when I stumbled on to this old self promotional piece. Zane Design was a freelance name I was using at the time. There was some elements I liked but never used it. I pulled it out of the old school file and put it in the new school file to keep it fresh in my mind. I would like to use it for something. Lesson "Keep It."

Space Boy

After a long day wanting to illustrate coupled with being frustrated with my time limits, I threw down some sketches really fast to get it out of my system. The first sketch sucked big time but this one came out better then expected. It gave me hope that I still have the little illustrator inside. It felt really good just to get it out. It made me feel like I was doing something about it. The lesson "Just do it already."

Letters and Glyphs

Here is a lil tut on a project I did using letters and glyphs as decorative elements. I do not show everything I did to create these cards. Here is a clue: I tuned them in to pattern brushes in illustrator. Have fun.

Exquisite Corpse: A Collaborative Surrealist Digital Illustration

Here is a great site that I stumbled onto that can really get your creative juices flowing for the day. Great concept for surrealist illustrations and traditional mediums.

It is funny how we like to see our little ones follow our foot steps in hopes to have them discover the joys we feel. Lucky for me, my boy likes to color. He learned light and dark with out any instructions from me. Really cool.

In his words "It maybe a waterfall."

When I asked if it is a waterfall, he said

"No."

Then I asked "Is it maybe a waterfall?"

"Yes."
